I like this one What really struck me was the background. In the upper left quarter, the bands of grey look flat, then as they descend they take on the depth of a concertina. The whole background looms like geography behind the black lighthouse in the front. Usually found works don't do much for me: Found poetry and mixed media pieces. They seem little more than the sum of their neglected parts. But there's a majesty to this piece; to all of them here, but to this one especially; and think it comes from the richness of oil paint. That kind of texture can never be achieved elswise.
